Scroll Formers - Traditional Craftmanship in your hands

Now you can create all the beauty of traditional scroll work with Metalcraft's range of Scroll Forming tools. There are five to choose from, varying in the size of the scroll they produce and the size of materials they handle.

The range also offers both the smaller hand-drawn Series 2 Formers and the capstan operated Series 3 Formers and new Mk 3 / 4 former.

The accompanying video clips are presented in .wmv (Windows Media Player format). They can be viewed as two different versions, Dial Up (smaller low resolution clip for users with a dial-up connection) and Broadband (larger high resolution version for users with a high speed connection).

EASY TO USE - PRODUCES FLAT & CONSISTENT SCROLLS
(NO PRE-HEATING OF METAL REQUIRED)

1. End of metal strip is placed between two central rollers and is gripped by adjusting moveable rollers, or slotted centre pin of Mk 2/2(H) former.

2. Metal strip is drawn around centre segment to produce initial part of scroll. (If using Mk 2/2(H) Former with heavy gauge material the special starting lever supplied with this tool helps to form the initial tight curve of the scroll).

3. Depending on size of scroll required, metal strip is drawn around further with additional segment(s) dropped in as required. For consistency when producing repeated scrolls refer to scroll profile diagrams. Finally release finished flat scroll.

EASY TO USE - MK 2/3, MK 3/3 & MK 3/4 FORMERS
FOR DIY AND PROFESSIONAL USE

1. Hinged segments are opened out and end of metal strip is placed into centre segment and gripped by means of locking bar mechanism.

2. Metal is positioned to right of pressure roller which ensures material is drawn into centre as the handles are turned.

3. As the handles are rotated hinged segments close around the material to form a scroll of the required size. The more the handles are rotated the larger the scroll formed. When scroll is of required size unlock locking bar to release.

4. The MK 3/3 & MK 3/4 Scroll Former have additional versatility with their ability to produce a range of different scroll sizes and shapes. This is achieved by interchanging the hinged segments.

Other Information

The maximum scroll size quoted is approximate due to the varying temper (spring) of steel.

All tools are supplied complete with operating instructions and spare parts list. Please note that the maximum working capacity stated is for Hot Rolled Mild Steel Bar & Annealed Bright Mild Steel Bar. Working beyond these limits or with material of greater hardness may reduce the operational life of the machines.

TUBE FORMING COMPONENTS

New Tube Forming Components are now included with MK 2/3 and MK 3/3 Scroll Formers thereby adding a most useful facility to these practical and simple to use tools, enabling a greater number of design options to be considered and greater variety of products to be made.

The Tube Forming Components are easily fitted by removing the scroll segments from the respective Scroll Former. Then dropping the Tube Forming Components over the Central Pivot Post and, with the use of the Locking Bar linking them to the Central Handle Assembly so they may be rotated to form up to 180° bends.
